Company Background ECS was started by John Eix, a Chemistry teacher for 34
years, 1965 - 1999. The company was founded in 1970. The first product was a text of Grade 9 Science for Prentice-Hall. The text was used by almost 90% of the Grade 9 students in Ontario.
The company has been involved in:
- the development of provincial curriculum guidelines produced by the Ontario MoET
- the authoring of science texts and teacher’s guides
- the authoring of student learning manuals for Grade 9 Science, Introductory Chemistry and Senior Chemistry
- the managing of the speakers and production of the STAO conference program
- the installation of home networks and the management of a 300+ node ether net LAN
- the advising and selling of computers and computer pheripherals
- MoET contracts
Currently ECS is involved in:
- publishing “S.E.N.A.C.A. Times”
- School timetabling contracts
- the development of an online multiple choice data base that students can use to practice for tests and exams
- designing and installing small home office networks
